Photography Tips

Here you will find a few tips for taking good source images of your pet, for me to work from. If I can work from a good quality image it will make all the difference to the final artwork.

1. GOOD LIGHTING

Use good light, outdoors or near a window for natural light. Ensuring the animal is well lit and captures the detail and texture correctly. Try to capture some light in the animals eyes.

2. POSITIONING

Have the animal positioned so that it will look good in the final artwork. For dogs/cats and small animals get down to the animals eye level if possible.

Below are a few of good examples.

3. EYE LEVEL

If possible, for smaller animals get down to their eye level. As this makes for a better composition in the final artwork.

4. BAD EXAMPLES

Below are a few bad examples of pet photos. Image too dark, dogs eyes closed, not a good pose.
